For complaints or information about services provided to NDIS participants, contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

For access to medical records held by NT Government, contact Freedom of Information, NT Department of Health. The process for accessing medical records held by NT Health is explained here.

If your complaint concerns:

  • refusal to provide records
  • a breach of the privacy principles set out in the Information Act 2002 (NT) ; or
  • concerns about the content of your records

by NT Health, contact the NT Information Commissioner.

For complaints about access to records held by non-government providers, concerns about a breach of the privacy principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 or concerns about the content of your records, contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

If you are concerned about overservicing or the correct use of item numbers, contact Medicare Australia on 13 20 11 or if you suspect fraud, phone 13 15 24.

For any complaints about your health insurance arrangements, you can contact the Commonwealth Ombudsman on 1300 362 072.

NT Complaints Bodies

The CVP provides information, advocacy and complaints handling services for people receiving services from NT Government mental health services or in disability secure care. The CVP can be contacted by phone on (08) 8999 1451 or 1800 021 919.

If you are seeking a refund for goods (for example dentures, glasses, orthotics) which are unsatisfactory, contact NT Consumer Affairs by phone on 1800 019 319.

The NT Office of the Children’s Commissioner manages complaints about services provided to vulnerable children in the NT. You can call the Children’s Commissioner on (08) 8999 6076 or 1800 259 256.

If you have been unlawfully discriminated against during the provision of health, disability or aged care, you can lodge a complaint with the Anti-Discrimination Commission. Discrimination happens when you are unfairly treated on the grounds of certain attributes like race, age or sex. The ADC can be contacted on (08) 8999 1444 or 1800 813 846.
